I have been singing around Southampton since the early 70's, in various guises. Primarily a solo performer, I have also sung in a number of duos and groups, perhaps most notably in Cat's Whiskers in the 80's.
Over the years I have built up a large repertoire of songs, both traditional and contempory, performing either unaccompanied, or with guitar or dulcimer. For several years in the 80's I was a 'resident' at the Focsle club in Southampton, and have sung regularly at numerous other venues around the area. Most recently I have been invited to sing at the Miskin festival in Wales next Easter.
I'm not sure what my main influences have been - I listen to a lot of music, from traditional folk to Frank Zappa to Oriental classical. As an ex Flower Child, I was brought up on Dylan and Donovan, and still sing their songs, but over the years I have soaked up songs from all sorts of sources like a sponge. Currently, my favourite acoustic perfomers are Martin Simpson, Jez Lowe and Martin Carthy.
I've recorded a few things over the years, the latest being a cd "There...and back again" - you're welcome to contact me if you want to know more about me, or you can find details of my latest cd here.
