Gene Burton is a 22-year old singer, songwriter and guitarist who has been performing in public at various levels since the summer of 2002, and is now based in the Southampton area after a spell in Birmingham. Key influences include Dylan, Bert Jansch, Ralph McTell, Fairport Convention and the Byrds, along with British and American traditional song.
In Birmingham, Gene has supported Phil Beer/Deb Sandland and Katharine and Brian Willoughby at the Red Lion Folk Club; and he also won the Singer's Competition at Stainsby Folk Festival in July 2003.
